“Take the trail that winds left and right. Stop for a picnic, enjoy several bites. Gallop to the seashore. What will we find? Everything is different from behind closed eyes.”
If I had a child, this is how I would begin her bed time story with hope that the small rhyme would spark an adventure in a dream. I am inspired by Alice in Wonderland, fancy cupcake shops, a whimsy with a hint of Frankensteinian experimentation, evidence of transformation, magic and recipes. The insides of sea shells, the crevices in trees, the interior of a gumball. These are places that hold, hide and cover, all qualities that invite an explorative giddiness and imagination.
